A Qualitative Study on the Psychodrama Experience of Youth Preparing for Self-Reliance Before Leaving Child Care Institution

Abstract
The purpose of this study is a phenomenological study to understand the meaning of the psychodrama experience of youth preparing for self-reliance before leaving a child care institution and to understand how the psychodrama experience affects self-reliance.
To achieve these research objectives, individual interviews were conducted with 7 youths preparing for self-reliance in child care institution who participated in a total of four psychodrama workshops from September 2021 to September 2022 and the collected data. It was analyzed through the phenomenological research method of Colaizzi(1978).
As a result, 6 subject groups and 16 subjects were derived. The 6 subject groups were ¡®Unfamiliar psychodrama is burdensome¡¯, ¡®Special self-reliance preparation experience through psychodrama is interesting¡¯, ¡®Becoming the protagonist and deal with the difficulties of self-reliance preparation process¡¯, ¡®Inner growth through the experience of the protagonist¡¯, ¡®A sense of social solidarity is strengthened¡¯, ¡®Leaping forward dreaming of hopeful self-reliance¡¯.
Based on these results, it was found that the psychodrama experience of youth preparing for self-reliance before leaving child care institution is the process of expanding one's understanding of oneself and others, and was an opportunity for inner growth and prepare a social support system. Furthermore, it was significant that the psychodrama experience was a good opportunity to prepare for healthy self-reliance.
